Target has finalized a lease this month to open a store at Grove Central, a sustainable, transit-oriented development planned at the Coconut Grove Metrorail station.
The project includes 135,000 square feet of retail, 288 apartments, and a parking garage with 898 spaces.
Target will take 49,658 square feet in the retail building, which includes six stories of multi-use space and five stories of garage.
Grove Central will feature a rooftop solar trellis that is capable of powering the entire development, while also charging a large micro-grid battery for use when the sun is down.
A rooftop social hub is planned, including a coffee shop, cocktail bar, rooftop lounge, outdoor moving screening and musical event space, and co-working spaces. At the ground level, a Linear Plaza lined with mature trees and retail will be connected to the Underline and a renovated Metrorail station.
Touzet Studio is the architect. Terra Group and Grass River Property are the developers.
